Former president Donald Trump spoke Thursday at the Economic Club of New York, recounting accomplishments of his administration and taking repeated shots at Vice President Kamala Harris, at one point calling her “a Marxist.” During the speech, Trump endorsed a government spending commission that could give Elon Musk broad responsibilities for auditing federal spending and regulations. Trump appeared remotely later before a gathering in Las Vegas of the Republican Jewish Coalition. Harris headed to Pittsburgh, where aides say she will spend several days preparing for Tuesday’s presidential debate with Trump.
Harris continues to improve her polling position in every swing state
A few more polls have been added to The Washington Post’s polling average, and the margins keep shifting in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris. She’s solidified her lead in the Midwest — Harris’s lead of four points in Wisconsin is outside a normal-sized polling error, and her lead in Michigan has increased to one percentage point. The margins in the Sun Belt are razor thin — Harris and Trump are now tied in Nevada, and Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina are all inching toward tie territory.
